Mr. Theoharides has more than 30 years of corporate and structured finance experience. Prior to joining Balance Point Capital in 2016, Mr. Theoharides created innovative co-investment programs for GE Capital and Antares Capital (sold to Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in 2015) for which he raised over $2B. From 2007 to 2009, Mr. Theoharides successfully traded and managed a portfolio of CLO equity for TPG Credit Management, LLC (TPGC).
Prior to joining TPGC, Mr. Theoharides was the Co-Portfolio Manager of Structured Products at Katonah Debt Advisors (a Kolhberg Capital company - KCAP) where, with permission from KCAP he took the strategy to TPGC. Mr. Theoharides was also the Chief Operating Officer of Katonah Capital, the predecessor to Katonah Debt Advisors, where he was a member of the Management Committee during 2002 and 2003. For two years prior to rejoining Katonah Debt Advisors in 2006, he was the Managing Principal of AugustChristian Capital Advisors LLC, a structured finance advisory firm, where he completed over $250mm in structured deals.
From 1996 to 2002, Mr. Theoharides was a senior vice president at GE Capital where he implemented a CLO investment strategy (negative basis). For six years prior to that, he was a team leader in the structuring and management of over $5.0 billion in securitization transactions at Capital Markets Assurance Corporation (CapMAC owned by Citibank) working with underlying collateral such as auto loans, boat loans, trade receivables, timeshare loans, relocation loans, and lease receivables. Mr. Theoharides began his career at National Westminster BankUSA and Chemical Bank where he received formal management and credit training.
He received a B.S. from Skidmore College with a concentration in accounting.
